Auditions for JJC’s Production of “Noises Off” will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 and 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. Auditions are residents of JJC’s district. Those interested should prepare a 60-second monologue, for which memorization is encouraged, but not required. Computer classes at the library. The Plainfield Public Library District at 15025 S. Illinois St. will offer a variety of free 90-minute computer classes for adults in September. Registration opens two weeks in advance of each class and is required. Register online via the library website at www.plainfield.lib.il.us or by phone at (815) 327-2515. A library card is not needed for registration. Educational seminar. Edward Jones Financial Advisor Tim Stetenfeld of Plainfield is hosting an educational seminar titled “Paying for Education” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 8, at the Plainfield Public Library in downtown Plainfield. The seminar is designed to help participants understand the value and importance of planning for their children’s or grandchildren’s future education costs.

Seminar on new approach to parenting. Trained professionals at Catholic Charities offer a new, proven approach to parenting to build a strong, trusting relationship with children, shift children from negativity to positivity and become a more successful and confident parents. Seminars are offered from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays, Sept. 11, 18 or 25, at 203 N. Ottawa St., Joliet. Cost is $20 per person. To register, call (800) 240-7011. Class size is limited so call now to reserve a spot.

Shorewood Scoot 5k run/walk. Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center and D’Arcy Motors will sponsor the fifth annual Shorewood Scoot 5K run/walk Saturday, Sept. 11, at Provena Physical Therapy, 852 Sharp Drive, Shorewood. Proceeds will benefit the Proceeds from the Shorewood “Scoot” will go to the “Make Your Mark” Fund, in memory of Mark Staehely of Shorewood. The event will begin with a Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony from 8 to 8:30 a.m. The race starts at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $23 through Aug. 31 and $28 through the day of the race. To register online visit www.provena.org/stjoes/scoot. Register in person at Provena Physical Therapy, 852 Sharp Drive or Cardinal Fitness, 857 Center Court, both in Shorewood. In honor of 9/11, all police, fire, ems and military personnel can race for free. For more information call (815) 741-7416.

JCA Alumni Golf Classic. Joliet Catholic Academy’s Alumni Association will host its 20th Annual Golf Classic Friday, August 27. The cost is $135 per golfer and $110 per senior golfer (age 62 and older). The cost includes green fees, cart, lunch and dinner. Reservations are required. Registration begins at 10 a.m. with a scramble format tee-off at 11:30 a.m. Golfers will have the option of two courses, Inwood Golf Course in Joliet or Wedgewood Golf Course in Plainfield. Cocktail hour and dinner follow immediately at the Joliet Park District Multi-Purpose building. Reservations are required. Proceeds will benefit the students of Joliet Catholic Academy. Over the years, the Alumni Golf Classic has contributed to several scholarship and financial aid programs that benefit current and potential JCA students. Hole sponsorships and other sponsorship opportunities are available.
